As per the FMACA report more than 80% of the pharmaceutical and medical equipment is imported from abroad. The recent world health report also states that there is shortage of importing and distributing service of pharmaceutical and medical equipment in Ethiopia. The Company’s import office service is importing and availing medicines, medical equipment, Hospital machineries and spare parts. In spite of the acute shortage of foreign exchange, we have tremendously improved our volume and portfolio of imported products.
GBS imports the products from top international Companies such as Mindray, DYMIND, ACON, BEACON, Minfound, SUMER, Flyingfish etc. Our major 14 suppliers are from China and Turkey. In addition, we also import certain items from Europe and USA up on the customer’s specific request. The last fiscal year we have imported different products amount in to 12,700,000 million ETB (250,000 USD).
